Vanilla belongs to orchids family. Vanilla extract is derived from the vanilla pod. It has aromatic flavor and smooth, strong, rich fragrance. Vanilla extract is thickest and almost black in color. It is also used to flavoring in pastries, confections, and other desserts. Vanilla is also available in powder form.
